A globally-know destination for leisure tourism, Langkawi is broadening its horizon by welcoming nature lovers and sports enthusiasts from all around the world to its 99 tropical islands through its latest AkTION series events. Organized by E-Plus Global Sdn Bhd and supported by the Langkawi Development Authority (LADA), three AkTION series will be introduced to both domestic and international tourists beginning this year:

Tanjung Rhu SwimFest
An open-water swimming competition that will be taking place on the 10thof December 2016 with two-kilometer, four-kilometer, and six-kilometer categories tailored specifically for swimmers with different capabilities � be it for beginners or professional triathletes. The race will start at the Tanjung Rhu beach all the way to the borders of Thailand which allows participants the rare opportunity to experience two countries at a go.
Gunung Mat Chinchang SkyBridge Climb
A trail to be opened exclusively for race day only, this 4.5 kilometers climb finishes at the summit of the legendary Mat Chinchang Mountain which takes participants through the Middle Station, SkyBridge, and Top Station of the cable car. Race takes place on the 18th of February 2017.
Tuba Trail Run
Tuba Trail Run allows participants to catch a rare glimpse of the less explored islands off Pulau Langkawi, including Pulau Tuba and Pulau Dayang Bunting. The 2017 edition which will be held on the 8th of April will include three categories, including the 4-kilometer, 15-kilimeter, and 30-kilometer routes.
The implementation of AkTION is estimated to boost tourist arrivals in the long run, beginning with a target of 3.8 million tourists in 2016.
