ALBUM REVIEW Harmonica hard rock covers from Will Wilde on Bring It On Home
WHEN a PR company sends you an album of hard rock with a harmonica the featured instrument for moment you wonder if rock n roll has finally jumped the shark...or are you tripping from something someone gave you at a festival last year.
But being obligated to at least give it a chance one reads the press release about harmonica maestro Will Wilde and discover it is an album of cover versions...the Dubious Hat is donned; a stiff drink is poured and a deep breath taken.
Well, for a Northern Ireland-based site its always a good sign when our late adopted son, Rory Gallaghers track Bad Penny opens the proceedings. Faithful cover with the bluesy tones of Rorys playing given a unique subtle twist.
Bring It On Home: A Tribute to British and Irish Blues and Rock is, however, a strange beast. The covers of the tracks are given that expressive harmonica touch, even if some are penalty kicks, such as Sabbaths The Wizard.
Others are given an extra dimension, in particular Deep Purples Lazy that is given a real bluesy touch.
Equally John Mayalls Im Your Witchdoctor oozes with passion.
But there is an issue here. Wilde is such a tremendous harmonica player that we were left begging to hear original tracks - hard rockin harmonica groove.
That being said it is an enjoyable listen - you can check out the bonus track and video of Wildes Parisienne Walkways and hear his soulful playing.
That he has ambitions is clear by taking on Tulls Locomotive Breath where the song is given an extra dimension, that would have been a perfect cover with some more aggressiveness in the vocal delivery.
The unique tunings of his harmonica mean he can reach tones and notes that match guitar lines.
As such he stand-out song is Bring It On Home a great interpretation of Sonny Boy Williamson/Led Zeppelin that is leant an urgency by Wildes playing.
This is a great covers album but it would have been a much better collection with some of this talented mans own songs.

For many people purchasing a smartphone, having a decent camera is still one of the biggest draws. Todays camera phones are modern wonders, just look at the massive sensors that adorn phones such as the Samsung Galaxy S4, or even the half-phone-half-camera Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom for that matter. Some manufacturers are taking a different tack, with HTC looking at creating larger pixels to let in more light. Its proprietary UltraPixel technology means that the flagship HTC One, and its brothers the One Mini and One Max creates some stunning low light imagery.
It is then probably no surprise that the Play Store has found itself populated with numerous camera apps, designed to replace the stock camera app with something either more fun or more intuitive. Heres our guide to what we feel are the best camera apps on the Play Store right now.
Manual Camera
Most camera apps are designed to make photography as easy as possible for the end-user, removing complicated steps. The result is some Facebook-friendly snapshots, but certainly not professional pictures. For experienced photographers, you may be more at home with Manual Camera, which provides a range of settings options that most other apps just dont offer. Shutter speed, focus, white balance, exposure compensation - you control every detail of your picture. Also, this app lets you save images in the lossless RAW format, which offers completely new possibilities for further processing.
So, if you take photographs pretty seriously, but still want to use your smartphone, Manual Camera is an excellent, brand new solution. But beware, the app does require the many new APIs from Android 5.0 Lollipop, so its currently only available to users with the update.
Google launched its own camera app earlier in the year, and it has now replaced the stock Android camera on devices running Android Lollipop. Google Camera has a minimalist design, it shows only two on-screen buttons when you want to shoot something, the others being hidden in a side panel which you use a gesture to bring out.
Google Camera�s 360 degree panoramic feature is really impressive. You rotate your camera right or left after taking your initial shot, and you must trace white balls across the screen as you go around to maintain the correct orientation. While it didn�t work 100% of the time, and did necessitate that I move really slow to complete it, when it did work, the outcome was fantastic. It is capable of creating incredibly high resolution panoramic pictures which looked seamless, and its the best method for taking panoramics that Ive ever used.
Google Camera�s Android version requirement varies depending on the device. I was able to download it on the KitKat 4.3 version of our HTC One, for others it may need KitKat 4.4. The steep requirement may stop some users being able to get it, but if your device can handle it, it�s well worth checking out. It�s simple to navigate, user-friendly and clever.
Camera Fun Pro is next and this one is definitely for a more niche market. The various filters available provide a more goofy and fun theme for people rather than the more serious and artistic filters that others on this list provide. One of the more nifty features is the app�s ability to let you see how the effects will look before snapping the picture. So instead of taking the picture, adding the effects, and hoping you got the shot you needed, you can instead take the picture you wanted the first time. There are professional filters available, but this app definitely caters more to the fun pictures crowd.
Camera Awesome
The app design is straightforward, with shooting modes grouped at one end of the viewfinder and camera settings and preferences at the other. There�s a mode for HDR shooting in which the camera shoots and then blends multiple photos at varying exposures to retain highlight detail while opening up shadow areas. In panorama mode you sweep the camera in an arc to capture image views of up to 180 degrees. There�s a timer mode of up to 60 seconds as well as an interval shooting option if you want to try some basic time-lapse photography. A full resolution burst mode is available but the speed at which the app shoots is limited by how fast your phone can save each image. On my Samsung Galaxy S5, I averaged about .8 fps for 12MP images, which may be helpful for getting blink-free portraits, but not for fast sports action. A single axis level can also be displayed onscreen to avoid crooked horizons. Set the app to image stabilizer mode and after pressing the shutter button the app will wait to take a picture until the phone is held steady.
Resolution for still and video capture can be set for both the front and rear cameras on your phone and you can choose to enable the physical volume buttons to trigger the camera shutter. SmugMug users can save photos directly to their online accounts and/or enable automatic cloud backups. Files can also be shared with social media apps installed on your phone like Facebook, Flickr, and Twitter, and there�s an option to automatically downsize images before you share them, if you�d rather not upload large files. SmugMug requires Android 4.1 and later.
Ever heard of Open Camera? It has a lot of notable features, an extreme amount, actually. There are so many in fact, it�d probably take up the whole page. Some notable features are face detection, auto repeat mode, touch to focus and auto repeat mode. If those features are any indication, this camera isn�t the most modern on the list. But that�s okay, as some people don�t want bells and whistles.
Open Camera has a lot to offer. Honestly, this app isn�t a bad choice if you run an older version of Android, 4.0.3 to be exact. A lot of old versions of Android on old phones tend to have camera apps that are really dated.

Indian mobile market is slowing getting into the 4G LTE with networking rolling out in few location. 2015 will be the year when 4G will be getting launched in many more cities. It is expected to expand to more cities in 2015 with Airtel and Reliance�s Jio taking up pace in expansion. Taking this into consideration, lot of mobile OEMs are not focusing on 4G LTE supported handsets as India supports TD LTE. We recently covered some of the best options for a 4G LTE handset below Rs 25000.
In the last couple of months, we have seen new 4G supported phones coming to India in the mid range and also the budget category. With the launch of Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G and also Micromax YUREKA, there is stiff competition. So here is a list of 4G LTE supported phone below Rs 10000 in India. Lenovo A6000 is the latest contender to the low-end 4G smartphone market. Lenovo recently launched its most affordable 4G LTE smartphone in India. However, the smartphone is not available for direct purchase, instead the interested buyers should register themselves on Flipkart and then try their luck on 28th January when the smartphone will go on sale.
Coming to the specifications of the device, the Lenovo A6000 sports a 5-inch HD IPS display of 1280 x 720 pixel resolution, powered by 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor and runs on Android 4.4 KitKat OS out of the box with Vibe 2.0 UI. At the camera front, you will get 8MP fixed focus rear camera with LED flash, video recording capability and a 2MP front facing camera for video calling and selfie needs.
The quad-core processor is coupled with 1GB RAM, 8GB of internal storage and a micro SD card slot for memory expansion. Lenovo A6000 is the most affordable 4G LTE enabled smartphone available in the market. Apart from LTE, it also comes with 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0, GPS and micro USB for data transfer. The smartphone measures 8.2mm thick and weighs around 128 grams including 2300 battery.
The Lenovo A6000 has been priced at Rs 6,999 in India and is currently available for registration. Registered users can buy the device on January 28th.

Last month Nokia quietly announced their first LTE enabled device for India, Nokia Lumia 638 which runs Windows 8.1 on the Operating System front. A few days back, Micromax launched the Yu Yureka phone in exclusive partnership with Yu. The key feature of the phone is that it runs CyanogenMod 11 based on Android 4.4 Kitkat.
The phone comes with a 5.5-inch IPS display, a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core cortex-A7 chipset with 64-bit architecture, 2GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, a 13-megapixel primary camera with EXMOR sensor, a 5-megapixel selfie camera, and 4G LTE network support. The phone is priced aggressively at INR 8,999.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G
After the super hit show of Mi3, Redmi 1S and Redmi Note 3G, now Xiaomi has launched Redmi Note 4G and creating sensation in Indian market. The Note 4G is powered by Snapdragon 400 Processor with 2GB RAM and has Android 4.4 KitKat with Single SIM facility. It comes with a 5.5 inch HD display with IPS technology and it comes with 8GB internal storage which is expandable to 32GB via microSD card. Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G has a 13MP rear and 5MP front camera for video calls and Selfie. The phone is powered by a massive 3200mAh battery. This handset is the real competitor of Micromax Yureka, spec wise the Redmi Note is damn impressive.
This Redmi Note 4G is priced at Rs 9,999 and now its available to purchase as flash sale exclusively on FlipKart.com. It is also being sold via Airtel India stores.
Xolo officially launched its first smartphone with 4G support in India, the LT900 at Rs. 17,999. The highlight of the Xolo LT900 is that it supports TDD LTE bands and it is one of the first 4G enabled phone in India. It comes with a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Dual-core Processor and has 4.7 inch HD display with 1GB RAM. The phone is now selling for Rs 7999.

I do not speak Korean, but I will be learning soon (like next year or something), but I am guessing that I will have a large accent seeing as this is not one of my well known/practiced languages. Will any of this matter, or affect becoming a KPOP star?
Also, I am slightly shy, though working on it, but I do feel better in a group, so what happens to become a solo or group act? How do you get into the KPOP music industry, or more specifically, what must you do to get noticed, get a manager, get a group, or whatever is required?
I�m guessing that I have to live in Korea, but what part? I know that right now living in South Korea isn�t the best, especially for someone of my background (I do not mean to be racist), so would North Korea be just as successful?
Now, I do plan on finishing school first, so I�ve still got to finish grade 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12, so I am guessing that things will change quite a bit by then. Are there any expectations? So, height, weight, language, body type, looks, teeth, and so on and so forth, and can girls be in the same group as guys, because I recall seeing that once, but very rarely. Basically, what are the expectations, procedures, scheduling, etc.
This one may appear to be strange, but makeup and hair-wse, what is required? Because I have naturally red-copper hair, and am not a fan of dying my hair, as well as makeup.
Now onto dancing and singing. I consider myself a good singer, and so has one of the best vocal teachers in Calgary, but, I do not do theory, learn piano (I quit a while back, and have forgotten everything I learnt) or anything of the sort. Is this something I need to know?
And dancing is not really a fort� of mine. I want to learn, but free-styling is absolutely not something I can do well, but with a given dance, it takes me quite a while to learn, and I�m not that great in the end. I know KPOP really concentrates on it�s dancing as a factor of the performance, but if I can�t dance, does this impact me severely?

I applied to a teaching program in Korea and Ill be going to "teach" there, but my sole purpose is to have sex with as many Korean girls as I can (go ahead and judge me if you want, idc).
