The Juiciest Learning Professionals on Twitter

    LEARNING PROFESSIONALS?

In the coming months, I believe Malaysia and Asia will be hit by the Twitter mania, and I expect one question to be popping up again and again: "Do you have a list of the top learning professionals around the world on Twitter, which we can follow?".

The list below, is not ranking, but just numbering to keep track of how many I have identified. Though, I have deliberately added some of the super learning professionals in the first 20 to excite those reading it. This is by no means a static list, and I will update it from time to time. The main reason for assembling this list, is to help people looking for top learning professionals on Twitter. Though, if you are not using Twitter, you can always subscribe to the learning professionals tweets through RSS. Finally, when you visit a learning professionals Twitter page, you will also find there their blog or site (if any).

Father Guido Sarduccis Five Minute University

This is without doubt the funniest video about the current state of higher education from New York to Bombay (past, present and future?). So, if we are really talking about learning outcomes, we should test our students 5 years after they have completed their courses and programmes. What learning outcomes have survived? Now, that would be an interesting research project :)

In the meantime, perhaps we should discuss whether Father Guido Sarduccis Five Minute University is still applicable to our courses, programmes and Universities? If it is, we got some serious reflection to do :)

    OER Blogs News Aggregator

    • Link to OER Blogs
    • Open Educational Resources Movement

    OER?
"OER (Open Education Resources) are teaching, learning and research resources that reside in the public domain or have been released under an intellectual property license that permits their free use or re-purposing by others. Open educational resources include full courses, course materials, modules, textbooks, streaming videos, tests, software, and any other tools, materials or techniques used to support access to knowledge (Source)."

    OER BLOGS?
"OERBlogs is a new initiative from MITs OpenCourseWare project to aggregate and stimulate discussion about open educational resources. John Dehlin (Director of the OpenCourseWare Consortium) writes, "Now I know what youre probably saying.....why not just have folks use an RSS reader??? Well the truth is that....1) most folks in the world still dont use RSS readers -- and Im hoping for a bigger reach than what a client-side application can bring, and 2) you cant link from Digg or Slashdot to peoples individual RSS readers." - Stephen Downes

If you also write about OER, you can get your blog listed here by emailing the OCW Consortium. This is a great initiative, and because of this we can now go to one online learning space to get all the latest news about OER, or things related to it. Think of OER blogs as an Online Newspaper aggregating the latest news about OER around world, using the collective intelligence of mankind (I mean those posting about OER!).

In addition, please spread the news about OER blogs and join the OER movement. As John Dehlin says, "There is so much good we can do -- if we cooperate together." :)
